We Were Once Known As The Mid-Atlantic Region

The Atlantic Coast Region (ACR) of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc, once known as the Mid-Atlantic Region (’68 to ’76), came about in 1968 with the founding of the Epsilon chapter (New Jersey City University) located in New Jersey. As the fraternity grew rapidly, so did the Atlantic Coast Region. The Fraternity began to spread throughout the Northeast ranging from Rhode Island all the way to Pennsylvania.

The Atlantic Coast Region is comprised of six states: New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island; housing active chapters in five of the six states within the region. The ACR holds the most chapters throughout the fraternity which houses over 60+ chapters (active, inactive, and retired) with seven of the single letter chapters.

In 2019, the region was proven pristine as it was named the “Region of the Year” at the National Conclave convention in Charlotte, NC. In addition, the region also housed the “National Chapter of the Year” the same year as well in 2021. The ACR is known to be the trendsetters of the organization and will continue to be a staple and serve the Fraternity as a whole!
